Data communications distributor Anixter Australia has acquired all outstanding shares of structured cabling distributor allNET Technologies, for an undisclosed amount.
Wayne Bogart, vice president and managing director of Anixter Australia, said the acquisition of allNET would expand the opportunities available to its resellers, and give them access to a wider range of products for cabling networks.
He said the channel would see it adding more product lines, including a greater range of accessories, with the plan to become a one-stop shop. He added that this `in the long run can help them reduce their operating expenses'.
Bogart explained Anixter was in the process of putting together new channel programs, which he expected to be completed by the end of March. `We're looking at it as an opportunity to merge the two companies . . . to bring the best of both worlds . . . together.'
The company will market itself under Anixter, although Bogart said it may use the allNET name in the future for marketing certain products.
The acquisition would allow Anixter to better service customers throughout Australia, because of its combined sales organisations, said Bogart.
Currently, Anixter only distributes through the channel, and plans to use it to target vertical markets in the future.
The distributor now has more than 70 staff in five locations in Australia, with allNET's staff integrated with Anixter.
Both Anixter and allNET will con-tinue to service existing relationships. Bogart said the allNET business will exist for about another year, while sales and customer issues are finalised.
