Check Point and Intel join forces

Check Point Software Technologies and Intel are working together to provide gigabit security performance for e-business environments. Check Point will integrate its Secure Virtual Network (SVN) architecture with the Intel Internet ExchangeT (IX) architecture to accelerate the ability to carry out high-speed, real-time e-business over high-bandwidth networks. The purchase will give Nortel access to Promatory's ATM-based Intelligent Multi-service Access Switch (IMAS) edge switch. This device takes in digital subscriber traffic in a number of DSL flavours and sorts customer traffic to insure various levels of service quality. In combination with Nortel's cable modem and wireless access gear, the Promatory deal will round out the company's broadband access offerings for residences and small businesses.

Cabletron announces wireless solution

Cabletron Systems has announced the availability of its 11Mbps RoamAbout wireless solution. The RoamAbout high-rate wireless building-to-building solution has 11Mbps performance and is based on the 802.11b IEEE industry standard. The new RoamAbout building-to-building solution is designed for outdoor environments and there are a range of optional antennas and accessories available.www.cabletron.com/wirelesse-DataGroup joins SNIAData and information management company e-DataGroup has joined the international computer system forum, Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA). The forum is made up of integrators, developers and IT professionals collaborating to advance and promote storage networking and technology solutions. This will include education and information, accelerating the development and evolution of standards and promoting their acceptance among vendors and IT professionals.
