Buoyed by a healthy IT and CE market, Harvey Norman has reported end of financial year sales across Australia, New Zealand, Slovenia and Ireland of $4.58 billion.
The total, which excluded Singapore and Rebel Sport stores, was an increase of 12.7 per cent on the 12 months to June 30, 2005.
General manager for computers and communications, Rutland Smith, was pleased with the results.
"We saw very strong growth in key categories such as notebooks and MP3 players," he said. "Consumer eletrical has also experienced a boom in flat panel displays."
Smith said increased affordability and greater awareness of LCD technology had made the category a star performer.
Plans to converge Harvey Norman electrical and computer franchises are proceeding as planned, according to Smith. Trial stores are expected to be introduced in every capital city, with a total of 25 across the country.
