Australia's largest focused networking distributors, Express Data and LAN Systems, have reported record hauls for the month of May, signalling an apparent boom time for resellers.
LAN Systems chief marketing officer Nick Verykios said LAN Systems had the biggest month in its history with sales "way over" the budgeted $11 million.
Peter Masters, Express Data's national marketing manager, said ED also had its biggest ever month, commenting it signals the industry is starting to buck the trend of an expected pre-GST sales slowdown.
"There seems to be a good vibe out there," he said. "[May] was a good one for us, our biggest month ever."Both distributors carry vendors such as Cisco and 3Com.
The news is good for LAN Systems, according to Verykios, which affirms reseller support for the company since its acquisition of Datatec-owned Westcon Group in late April.
"We've had no reseller backlash, no vendor backlash, no staff backlash," he said.
LAN Systems attributes its growth to new reseller partners and booming telco sales, while ED attributes its amazing sales success to new resellers and a "greater depth of products" than competitors.
