Norwegian firm Tandberg Data ASA has appointed Brisbane-based storage and SCSI specialist VAR Datastor as its Queensland agent. The move is expected to help Tandberg gain a larger slice of the competitive back-up device and tape storage solution market in Queensland.
Both companies have been active in New Zealand for some time and this deal is the result of a good working relationship the two companies have developed there.
John Couvaras, Datastor's managing director, says the addition of Tandberg products to his product line-up will provide positive benefits for his clients.
"We see ourselves as solution providers, and gaining access to this range of world-leading equipment only strengthens our capabilities in the high-quality storage-related areas of tape drives and hard drives."According to Kim Nielsen, Tandberg's Asia-Pacific manager, Datastor will also supply its range of advanced tape-based data storage products to the professional market in New South Wales.
"Users in these regions will now have access to the most comprehensive range of tape storage management solutions in the world. Another important advantage that we have, we believe, is the fact that we manufacture our own equipment - we do not supply OEM equipment."
