Logitech's cordless retail charge

Don't you just hate that mouse cord? It is the bane of many an office worker's existence; it gets in the way, it tangles with other desktop clutter, it stops your mouse from roaming freely and is the essence of painfulness generally.

But fear not! Logitech has introduced its cordless optical trackball mouse, selling at Myer/Grace Bros, Harris Technology, Officeworks and computer retailers from July 1.

The Cordless TrackMan Wheel is based on Logitech's marble optical sensing and digital radio technology and connects to the computer via a USB port. According to Logitech, it will function within a two metre radius of the computer and doesn't need to be in the line of sight to work.

"We see a huge demand for cordless products," said Logitech Australia's general manager, Marco Manera. "To give you an idea, Logitech sold over 600,000 cordless control devices last month alone, worldwide."Manera said demand in the local market was equally strong, with sales in cordless peripherals growing at more than twice the rate of their corded counterparts.

"We have noticed the best way to sell cordless products is by word of mouth," Manera said. "An office environment is perfect as colleagues and customers tend to become very inquisitive when they spot a mouse without a tail."The mouse carries a retail price of $179.
