GVT puts Hunter Area Health in the picture

Visual collaboration solutions provider Global Videoconferencing Technologies (GVT) yesterday finished upgrading a visual collaboration network for Hunter Area Health.

Steve Neville, NSW branch manager at GVT, said it had taken about a month from first order to delivery.

According to Neville, the contract was worth about $220,000 to GVT. It involved the company installing a visual collaboration network with an Accord Networks MGC-100 multipoint communications bridging system.

The Accord MGC is available in Australia because of a strategic alliance between Accord and PictureTel which involves PictureTel and its channel partners becoming worldwide distributors of the Accord MGC. GVT is a platinum reseller of PictureTel.

Neville said it was selected by Hunter Area Health predominantly because it had been the "incumbent supplier of videoconferencing products and services".

Neville said the bridge enabled Hunter Area Health to have multiple sites connected into the one meeting, regardless of where they were physically.

"We've now acquired the skills to implement, install and manage this particular device," he said. Now the network is up-and-running successfully, Neville said GVT would be "showcasing" it to other companies.
