Australian solutions provider Mincom is one of the first independent software vendors (ISVs) to chum up with IBM in a strategic alliance targeting total e-business solutions for lucrative global transportation markets.
The deal is in line with Big Blue's strategy of partnering with channel players who will commit to using its middleware in their solutions. In return, the joint marketing relationship with Mincom will see IBM developing a services delivery practice for the company's Ellipse Enterpise Asset Management application.
Demonstrating a much greater willingness to embrace channel partners, IBM is also offering improved marketing, sales and solutions resources to its ISVs.
According to a press statement announcing the deal, Mincom will adopt the IBM Application Framework for e-business. This is a "technology roadmap that integrates Internet technologies wih traditional information technologies", the statement said.
"This is another example of the strong commitment IBM has to Australian companies," said David Thodey, IBM Australia's managing director and CEO.
Under the alliance Mincom will enable Ellipse product for IBM's enterprise e-commerce product WebSphere Application Server.
