Listed smart card technology vendor Intellect has appointed EFTPOS New Zealand (ENZ) to distribute its products in Australia as well as in the land of the long white cloud.
ENZ was recently taken over by ANZ Banking Group after developing a global reputation for developing elecronic payment products and services for the retail and banking industries. Specifically, the agreement sees Intellect's latest product, the 8515 Multi-Pay Terminal, supplied to and distributed by ENZ.
Clearly, it was an important deal for Intellect.
"ENZ now provides EFTPOS services to almost one in two retailers in New Zealand," according to Juliet Robinson, Intellect's Australian sales manager.
"It is also pioneering a range of products and services in associated areas.
"This includes everything from smart card and loyalty program development through to application service provision. We can help ENZ in the Australian market and they give us greater access to New Zealand, which is leading the world in its acceptance of EFTPOS," Robinson said.
According to ENZ director Peter Marshall, the partnership is a mutually beneficial one. He said the company was looking to Intellect to provide additional value to ENZ's solutions by way of application development skills.
"Intellect has excellent products and wide experience from its work with major clients in Europe, the US and the Asia-Pacific," Marshall said in a statement.
"Therefore we expect to gain substantial benefits from having access to Intellects' expertise, especially in smart card technology."
