Former Sony bod appointed Banksia digital business manager

<p>SYDNEY, October 21, 2004 – NetComm has announced the appointment of former Sony business development manager Jason Leuzzi to spearhead the company’s newly formed consumer electronics division, Banksia Digital.</p>
<p>“Banksia Digital has arrived at an interesting crossroads whereby broadband connections are increasing sharply at the same time as massive advances in digital, home entertainment technology,” Mr Leuzzi said.</p>
<p>Banksia announced last month that is coming to market with a range of digital entertainment products spanning TV card tuners and a range of multimedia devices for storing and playing music and video. The first of these, Banksia’s Portable Multimedia Player (PMP) will be showcased at this month’s Home Entertainment Expo in Sydney.</p>
<p>Mr Leuzzi joins Banksia after four years with Sony Australia, where he worked as business development manager for that company’s rapidly growing home cinema division. Previously he held a number senior roles for other leading audio/ visual companies in Australia and New Zealand, including a stint in the media working for Television New Zealand.</p>
<p>“We expect to make a strong impression in the emerging digital entertainment market in Australia and feel that Jason’s strong technical and corporate backround in audio/ visual will prove an important asset,” NetComm managing director David Stewart said.</p>
