Tech Pacific has announced a new distribution deal with Taiwan-based motherboard manufacturer MSI Computer.
The deal will see Tech Pacific distribute MSI motherboards in the local OEM market.
Tech Pacific national OEM manager Dave Patnaik told ARN that the new deal was the result of a desire to provide customers with increased flexibility.
"Our OEM customers have to compete with the branded boxes manufacturers," Patnaik said. "That means they need guaranteed supply so they know that they can come through with the products when they get the orders."Patnaik pointed out that the ongoing CPU shortages that have been plaguing Intel have resulted in many OEMs looking to move into different product lines.
The new deal will see Tech Pacific distribute MSI's broad range of motherboards, which are designed for Intel, AMD and Via chipsets.
This enables Tech Pacific to offer product which will suit a wider range of system configurations. MSI's motherboards are backed by a range of services which include local telephone technical support.
Tracey Tsuei, general manager of MSI Computer, explained that the manufacturer had been in the market for a new distributor.
"We were having difficulties finding a distributor which would not clash with our current distribution lineup," Tsuei said. "Our other distributors agreed with our decision to include Tech Pacific in our distributor line up.
Nonetheless, there is a little bit of overlap between our initial distributors and Tech Pacific."According to Tsuei, current distributors Synnex and Also will continue to work with MSI.
