Fone Zone extends reach with buyout
Mobile phone retailer Fone Zone will expand its operations across eastern Australia, acquiring The Mobile Phone Shop Company for an undisclosed amount.
The buyout will increase Fone Zone's retail store count from 12 to 38 outlets. Co-owners David McMahon and Maxine Horne said they wanted to increase the company's reach into Queensland and northern NSW. They are now planning to roll out more stores over the next 12 months and will also move into direct fulfilment and e-tailing.
The Mobile Phone Shop stores will be rebranded and operating by September 1.
"Our strategy for rolling out stores [revolves around] servicing city and regional areas - both are equally important to us," Horne said.
