Oracle membership tops 1 million mark

Database giant Oracle, has topped one million members in its application development club - Oracle Technology Network (OTN). Oracle's OTN is a membership-based online technical community for Internet developers, supporting and facilitating its development efforts by providing the latest technical information on a wide variety of Oracle's products and technologies. With membership of 315,000 last year, OTN membership has been growing at around 2000 members a day due to the influx of international members, according to a statement released by the company. As members of OTN, developers worldwide have access to free software and services to help them build their businesses around the Oracle Internet platform. Another factor driving OTN membership is a skills exchange whereby developers from around the world buy, sell and auction technical services in a collaborative Objects signs e-BI into foldAfter its recent announcement that the company was going direct to a number of its customers (see ARN 3/8/200), Business Objects (BO) has signed up business intelligence channel company e-BI Solutions. e-BI Solutions has joined BO as a consulting and education centre, and is looking to bolster its enterprise presence to handle what it believes is a big demand for business intelligence services. The company has opened an office in Sydney hoping to employ around 15-20 staff by the end of the year, as well as planning a Melbourne office in the next few months.

F-Secure plans virus protection for phonesF-Secure, which specialises in security and encryption technology, is announcing a virus protection product for mobile devices running on Symbian's EPOC platform. In a statement, the company said its new product is aimed at the security risks posed by the new generation of mobile phones and PDAs that "bring the Internet to your pocket." The Symbian platform is already licensed to many of the major manufacturers of wireless devices, F-Secure said. The company added that its "Mobile Scanner" technology will allow it to scan for any future binary viruses, script language viruses, Trojan horses and infected e-mail attachments that should emerge, and pass on security updates to wireless devices over the
