HighGround bolsters storage analysis tools

Storage resource management pioneer HighGround Systems has announced management software for storage consultants which will let them more accurately plan a customer's storage infrastructure. HighGround Surveyor SRM scans a storage network, automatically discovers devices, collects data and generates reports. This Web-based tool can be used to discover storage capacity, utilisation and availability statistics on disks attached to Windows NT, Windows 2000, Unix and Linux servers. Surveyor generates standard and customised reports, charts and storage trends. The software also includes billing capabilities for SAN/NAS planning and implementation, storage consolidation, storage charge back and backup products.

Dot Hill unveils storage management software

Dot Hill Systems, comprised of storage vendors Artecon and Box Hill, has unveiled enhancements to its storage management software. SANpath and SANscape will now work on Linux, HP-UX and Windows 2000. SANscape also supports NetWare. Both products work with Dot Hill's SANnet RAID storage arrays. SANpath 3.1's availability and performance management software allows storage space to be assigned to different servers on-the-fly without taking the system down. SANscape 2.3 is a configuration, maintenance and monitoring tool for Dot Hill's SANnet SCSI and Fibre Channel RAID storage systems. SANpath starts at $US10,000 per server; SANscape starts at $500 per server.
