Building on a relationship that dates back to the early days of both companies, HP and The Walt Disney Co. entered a 10-year agreement whereby HP will supply hardware to the entertainment giant, the companies have announced.
The announcement at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando also kicks off a joint advertising campaign to promote Mission: Space, a new attraction at Disney's Epcot Center that was designed by both companies, chairman and chief executive officer at HP, Carly Fiorina, said.
One of HP's first sales as a company was an oscillator to help Walt Disney enhance the musical score for the animated film Fantasia in 1937, Fiorina said.
Since then, Disney has purchased a great deal of hardware from HP, including the 70,000 HP PCs and 10,000 Intel servers currently in use, she said.
Neither company disclosed the potential size of the 10-year contract. They did not reveal specifics regarding what hardware will be supplied by HP to Disney as part of the deal.
