Niche security integrator Citadel Securix has been appointed as a Nokia Internet Communications Premier Reseller, an agreement which rewards its commitment to security solutions.
Citadel Securix distributes and implements Nokia's firewall-based IP security product range which can be configured as a router, firewall and/or intrusion detection system.
According to Greg Breen, principal security consultant with Citadel, the onset of e-commerce has seen this market explode and there is not enough skills around to service the demand.
"It is a very specialist niche market we have proven can afford to have players focusing solely on it," Breen said. "Internet and network security is a far more complicated market than it was two years ago. "The Internet connection is now a crucial part of an organisation's infrastructure."
Breen considers network integrators with firewall experience as being the most likely candidates to step up and service the burgeoning IP security market, but it is not a given that all could do so.
"The people who all got into firewalls a few years ago are now looking to roll over into this space," he said. "However, it is not as easy as some might think. We have focused totally on security since starting in 1993, so we have some solid background and skill sets that are not available elsewhere."
Citadel's IP security solution incorporates Nokia's box as well as the CheckPoint firewall and components from Data Fellows (Secure Shell) and ISS (detection intrusion).
