Hardware storage vendor Maxtor is hoping to forge stronger links with its resellers by broadening its distribution model and forming strategic alliances with Australian systems integrators.
Craig Davis, appointed as Maxtor's national sales manager for Australia/New Zealand last week, said Maxtor was looking for an additional national distributor for its Network Attached Storage (NAS) products.
According to Davis, Maxtor is in discussions with distributors and hopes to make an announcement within the next month. Currently eDataGroup distributes its NAS products in Australia, which Maxtor inherited through its acquisition of Creative Design Solutions (CDS) last year. The search for an additional distributor is part of Maxtor's drive to fully launch the NAS products into the Australian marketplace.
"What we basically want to do is formulate closer relationships with the resellers," Davis said. "To get back to our grassroots, understand their [the reseller's] business . . ."
