Tech Pacific has put its pen where its mouth is, in an attempt to confirm its place as a value-added distributor. The distributing giant has rallied a troop of its finest scribes and announced a monthly newsletter to give resellers and their customers an update on the latest technology coming from vendors.
Tech Pacific says the four-page brochure, dubbed Spotlight, is a response to resellers' need to educate their end users and keep themselves up to date - where vendors don't provide enough marketing grunt in this area.
Spotlight is a monthly four-page brochure, with each issue covering a different field of technology giving basic technical information and listing a selection of products available in the area from the distributor's vendor partners.
Topics include networking, mobile computing, printing, UPS and the Internet, and there is a space on the brochure for resellers to brand it with their logo and contact details, claims Tech Pacific.
One reseller that currently distributes 1500 copies of the brochure to its customers is Boise Technology.
"While we rely on vendors to give us the collateral to assist in educating our customers, I think vendors could do more," says Boise's national marketing coordinator, Maxine McNiece.
"[Spotlight's] not ultra-techy, which is good for most customers, although I must admit some of our customers are very technically literate and more detailed information could be useful," says McNiece. "You don't have to give too much [technical] detail, though, as this can be sourced directly from the supplier."
Spotlight is offered free of to resellers.
