Sun Professional adds BMC software to e-business bundles

Sun Professional Services has expanded its reseller agreement with BMC Software to include Incontrol, Control-M and Patrol applications to target Sun's e-business customers.

The move will be most felt by bricks and mortar companies that currently use Sun servers for core business applications. According to Sun, "old economy" businesses will be able to move into e-commerce and e-business more easily with its tested solutions.

"Downtime simply isn't acceptable from the standpoint of lost revenue or poor customer satisfaction," said Simon Price, marketing director for BMC Software South Asia.

Incontrol is expected to provide Sun Microsystems customers with a comprehensive solution that simplifies the management of multiple platforms and diverse applications.

At the same time, Control-M allows customers to schedule and manage different tasks running in the computing environment from a single management console. Integration with Patrol allows Control-M and the managed systems to be monitored to proactively prevent downtime and ensure maximum availability of all applications, including transactions generated through e-business activities, the company reports.

"BMC's solutions support the growing challenge of delivering high service levels to enterprises with increasingly complex systems and performance demands," said David Lane, regional director of Sun Professional Services.

The agreement builds on Sun's current contract to resell BMC's prediction and capacity management application, Control-SA, which monitors how effectively companies meet service-level agreements.
