Westan has picked up distribution rights for Amber Technology projectors and AV accessories.
Amber Technology is also distributed by Tecksel. Westan executive director, Kamil Aghtan, said it had been approached by Amber. The vendor would now concentrate on other lines of business such as broadcast equipment.
"Amber liked what we had already done with BenQ, so it approached us," Aghtan said. "It wants to be a real player in the IT channel and we can take their products to that larger market."
Westan had been given a number of exclusive products to differentiate itself from Tecksel, including an all-in-one projector, DVD player and speakers, he said.
"We also liked Amber because it meant we could continue the two vendor strategy we have in other product lines," he said. "Its Optoma projectors are the largest brand in the world, so we now have the world number one and the number two in BenQ."
Westan will carry Optoma projectors, Lumens document cameras, Ambertec screens and a range of accessories.
Aghtan said a number of its resellers were already transitioning to AV-centric ranges, tempted by improved hardware margins.
