Compaq Connect store opens

Compaq Australia has launched its first Compaq Connect franchise in Sydney in an effort to snatch SMEs and technology-savvy consumers from the "white box" businesses currently monopolising the market.

The new Compaq Connect has moved into the premises of Nortec Computers in Castle Hill, with Nortec owners David and Mark Norris remaining at the helm.

"With the name, backing and power of the Compaq brand, we can now build our business further and provide our clients with service and expertise unmatched by anyone else in the area," said Mark Norris.

"We don't just provide a product, we provide a complete service -- anything from PCs to servers, installation to service and repair, training and Internet connectivity. As a Microsoft certified solution provider, and with all three of our team members trained as Compaq engineers, we're better positioned to meet the needs of businesses in our community."

Compaq plans to roll out a network of franchises throughout Australia based on the success of its eight pilot stores in Melbourne and Brisbane. The retail stores are part of the company's plan announced earlier this year to bypass its traditional distribution channel and market directly to consumers.
