Central TAFE to offer e-Learning

WA software developer, Netsource, has teamed up with the international operations division of Central TAFE to offer e-Learning across the Internet.

The two organisations have formed the Corporate Central e-Learning group to deliver Central TAFE's management certificate and diploma courses over the Internet to businesses overseas. "Our combined operations will be initially targeting the very lucrative overseas management educational and Oil and Gas training market," said Murray Day, director of international operations at Central TAFE.

Netsource's role in the partnership will be to provide the technology infrastructure while Central TAFE will provide the course content and administer the training.

The courses will be developed using Netsource's LearningSpace 4 online training management software, which provides content delivery, tracking, reporting and enrolment management capabilities. Netsource will also assist in jointly customising content to suit the training requirements of businesses, said John Stockbridge, managing director of Netsource.

Primarily developed on IBM's MindSpan e-learning solution, Learning Space 4 also uses Lotus SameTime collaboration tool, Macromedia Pathware authoring tool, Seagate's Crystal Reports and HTML and XML forms.

Although the courses are initially targeted at businesses overseas, they will also be available locally in the future, said Stockbridge. "When the courses are on the Internet, it does not matter where learners are," said Stockbridge.

Corporate Content has thus far identified five potential customers out of seven organisations it met in Malaysia. "The partnership has just completed a very successful trip to Malaysia where we spent time with several large corporations and have received letters of intent from five of the groups we visited," said Day.
