Tibco and Broadvision sign global sales alliance


Middleware vendor Tibco has signed a global agreement with e-business application vendor Broadvision, resulting in the bundling of Tibco and Broadvision products under a joint marketing and sales scheme.

Broadvision, which specialises in front-end Web personalisation software, will now resell Tibco's ActiveEnterprise middleware product on a global basis.

In Australia, Tibco already has a strong presence in the channel, distributing its products through systems integrators who also resell Tibco products. These include the likes of Infosys and Foundation, as well as large consulting groups such as KPMG and Deloitte Consulting.

Broadvision on the other hand, has a large international presence but relatively small operations in Australia. Trevor Townsend, managing director of Tibco Software Australia, believes that despite the size of Broadvision's local operations, the agreement is still likely to result in additional sales.

"We're quite excited about this alliance," he said. "While Broadvision is not big here in Australia, there is still a lot of awareness out there -- they come up a lot when we're talking to customers."

He is also confident the deal will not have a negative effect on the other Tibco resellers, suggesting it is a product-specific channel arrangement, comparable to similar deals Tibco has inked with Ariba and I2.
