3Com's Australia/NZ country manager, Archie Wilson has resigned from his post at network hardware vendor 3Com.
Wilson said he was "very happy" at 3Com and that leaving after 16 months in the job was a "heart-wrenching" experience. He will be immediately take up a new role as vice-president Asia Pacific for a yet-to-be-named US-based CRM vendor launching itself in Australia in the lead-up to an imminent Nasdaq float.
Working as a VP and reporting directly to a CEO, "is more in line with my personal goals", Wilson said.
3Com's local 2IC, Jack Sabo will be filling the country manager's role in the interim as the headhunters consider internal and external replacement options.
Wilson cited his greatest achievement at 3Com was driving the company's revenue model to a 100 per cent focus on channels. The vendor's greatest challenge in the coming months on a local basis will be dealing with currency volatility and the emerging international crisis in the Middle East.
