Distributor lands Tiny fish

Software distributor Infotronics has signed a non-exclusive, open-ended agreement to distribute the router and firewall products of US software vendor Tiny Software.

Infotronics sales and marketing manager Rab Seip expects the agreement to bring about $2 million in regional sales over the next two years. The deal sees Infotronics, a specialist in systems integration software, become the first Australian distributor of the products, which are on catalogue in 5000 resellers worldwide.

Although the agreement is non-exclusive, Seip said Infotronics has "a verbal agreement that if we succeed, they won't need to use other distributors."

The distributor has also signed an agreement with US systems administration software vendor Lakeside Software, who previously held an agreement with Infotronics parent company, Dunson.

"The market is relatively small," said Seip. "The Infotronics business came about because no one else in the market is doing it. There is no local reseller for products in that area except LAN Systems and Tech Pacific, but they only deal with standard systems."

Whereas Dunson had an agreement with Lakeside to sell its "Support Aide" product onto end-users, Infotronics has now signed on with the vendor to promote it exclusively to resellers exclusively rather than end-users.
