Communications software developer Commsoft has entrusted Ingram Micro to distribute its products to the Australian channel.
Commsoft general manager Australia/New Zealand John Hadlow said the decision to go with Ingram Micro was largely based on the distributor's commitment to the product.
"There was really no contest among distributors, they approached us and gave a million dollar commitment within the first six months," Hadlow said. "Clearly they spotted a product that was an original in the Australian market and they wanted a part of it."
While the distribution relationship in Australia is not an exclusive deal, Hadlow confirmed Ingram Micro would be Commsoft's principal distributor in this country.
"We are also looking for other partners in specific verticals," Hadlow said.
Commsoft had previously dealt directly with the reseller channel, and the company is keen to maintain close ties with its reseller partners. According to Hadlow, it will take a central role in conducting, training and providing educational seminars aimed at resellers.
"Our products are designed to be easy to use, and we want to provide the channel with the skills to teach their customers what is needed to run the system," Hadlow said.
The new deal will see Ingram Micro Australia distributing NetMaster software, a reporting tool to monitor Internet, e-mail and Web access at work.
Hadlow describes the distribution deal as an ideal stepping stone, providing the company with the sort of infrastructure that would otherwise be impossible to acquire.
Ingram Micro Australia is launching a CommSoft reseller promotion which includes giveaways, and will be providing resellers with specialised CommSoft training during the next few months.
