Sitara signs NetStar

US-based bandwidth management hardware vendor Sitara has selected network integrator NetStar as its first premier partner to take its products to market.

Unitel and Selcorp Communications have also been signed up to the premier partners program and Sitara is still scanning the ranks of second-tier resellers to give their range a more regional focus.

"The Sitara channel program is central to our market development strategy as the partners will provide the feet on the street that we need to reach our target markets," said Rosemary Burton, national channel manager for Sitara. "The number of partners is limited so they will be able to maintain margin levels and avoid channel conflict."

Being a small vendor, Sitara intends to drive its business 100 per cent through the channel to maintain maximum reach. "We don't want to compete with our resellers," said Burton. "The Australian channel is very strong and resellers have a very comprehensive idea of who their customers are."

Sitara's range is not specific to a set wide area network, allowing it to work with ISDL, ASDL or broadband. Based on this flexibility, Burton believes premier partners could expect around 30 per cent growth on quality of service application. "Our products offer a significant scope for value added services in the areas of remote monitoring and service level agreements," she said.
