Up and coming telco AAPT Communications has announced it will invest $52 million into regional and rural Victoria in an attempt to expand and upgrade its VicOne network.
The carrier plans to extend its coverage to 90 per cent of the state on the back of this investment and plans are underway to provide Government agencies with broadband services. But to do this, AAPT must absorb local carriers including the Bendigo Telco Group and the Green Phone Company. On completion, AAPT will have 10 points of presence across the state, rolling out a series of eight to 68Mbps broadband pipes to 93 new locations in the process. The project is slated for completion in six months.
