Retail Solutions Briefs: Cybersource, Comer, BCP

Cybersource launches online Protected Buy US-based Cybersource has unveiled a protected buy symbol designed to build customer confidence in online shopping in the lead up to Christmas.

Its Protected Buy Program will help consumers identify businesses which employ the latest fraud protection services and security procedures.

Online credit card purchases make up less than 5 per cent of all credit card transactions, but account for over 50 per cent of false transactions, according to Current Analysis analyst Joseph Merino.

The catch for e-tailers is they must install and implement the Cybersource Internet Fraud screen to enrol in the program. The screen protects e-tailers of potentially fraudulent transactions and notifies them in real time, according to the company.

Members must also meet security-related fraud prevention and customer service requirements such as encryption, data integrity, identity verification and implemention of sales resolution procedures.

Comer gets makeover for Christmas

PC adventure game Comer is making a comeback with a marketing package designed to drive Christmas sales.

The game will be discounted and sold with a free audio CD of the game's soundtrack. The game's developers, Shine Studio, will also be offering free downloads and creative puzzles that tie into the gameplay. Comer is an adventure game for the PC platform with a style similar to Myst, whereby players must solve various puzzles. The game took three years to develop, according to Shine Studio, and comprises four CD-ROMs, more than 2000 24-bit true colour scenes and over 200 video/sound clips combined with a musical score.
