Syrinx calls out to new CEO

Australian voice recognition software vendor Syrinx Speech Systems has ended a lengthy search for a new CEO after announcing today Steve Watt will take the reins.

The company has recently formed a partnership with services giant EDS and finalised the rollout of a speech recognition system into online trading bourse ComSec. The appointment of Watt steadies the ship for the 10-year-old Australian startup that has been strongly backed by the Federal Government.

Watt has returned from Seattle for the role where he was executive vice president of international operations and corporate strategy for Portera Systems. Watt was the CEO and founder of automation software developer Invisic Software before the company was acquired by US-based Portera earlier this year.

Watt has been charged with taking Syrinx to the international market, and will have to draw on his 20-plus years of IT experience to do so. Prior to founding Invisic, Watt was stationed in Europe with management software vendor CABS.
