BTA dealers to confer

The Business Technology Association (BTA) will hold a national dealer convention on the Gold Coast from August 14-16. The convention includes two days focussing on document management and a one-day workshop on service management. The conference will include seminars, trade displays, dealer case studies and evening social functions. There will be seminars on technology and buyer trends, and document trends including back office printing and electronic document storage and management. The convention will be held at the Crowne Plaza hotel at Surfers Paradise. Cost of attendance at the two-day convention is $695 for BTA members or $1095 for non-members. New Satellite and TE laptops from Toshiba

Toshiba has added three new wi-fi ready laptops to its Satellite A10 range. With DVD/CD-RW as standard, the low-end model (RRP: $2090) is based on a Celeron processor, with a 14-inch TFT screen and 30GB hard drive. The mid-range (RRP: $2530) model is based on the Pentium 4 2.2GHz, with 14-inch TFT screen and 40GB hard drive. The top-end model (RRP: $3080) features a 15-inch screen and 60GB hard drive — The laptops also come with ConfigFree, a wireless software management tool to enhance wireless productivity. The company has also upgraded its TE range with the introduction of TE 2300, which is being pitched as a desktop replacement with battery life of up to 6.5 hours. It features an Intel Pentium-M processor and 855 chipset, DVD-CD burner, wireless capability, and advanced port replication. The TE 2300 is available in a 1.3GHz (RRP: $3025) or 1.5GHz (RRP: $3410) configuration.
