Consulcad signs with IGC for Brava

Melbourne-based information and project management consultancy group, Consulcad, has penned an exclusive distributorship agreement with Informative Graphics (IGC).

The deal, which covers Australia and New Zealand, will see the company expand its offering to include IGC's range of content visualisation, web publishing and collaboration software.

"We were looking for a new visualisation program and came across their product, Brava," Consulcad project manager and consultant, Simon Sands, said. "We got in contact with them, looked at the rest of their range and asked if they would like us to distribute it in A/NZ."

Consulcad also jumped on the opportunity to grow beyond its traditional verticals and into the mid-market sector, Sands said.

"We already have a presence in the construction, government and utilities industries," he said. "We would still like to grow these markets, but for the IGC products, we are more interested in targeting industries like finance, manufacturing and health care."

Despite already distributing products for companies such as Practical Programs, Aconex and ProjectCentre, which operated in a similar space to IGC's range, Sands said expanding Consulcad's offering would ensure it offered solutions for a range of customers.

A growing need for products that offered ease of use to the mid-market was also a major incentive for the deal, he said.

"A lot of content management software is complex, and that's valuable to a certain market, but there is a gap in the middle," he said. "In that space there is definitely a growing need for more simple solutions."

According to Sands, the company could also grow its share by going to market with a more cost-conscious offering.

"As the solutions are easy to administer system running costs are reduced," he said. "The level of entry is lower, users can adopt the technology quickly because of IGC's simplistic interface development, time spent training and getting up to speed can be a problem with more complicated systems."

Consulcad had signed Volante as its first reseller for the range, Sands said.
