KAZ ties up two outsourcing extensions

KAZ Group has announced long-term extensions to outsourcing contracts with Laiki Bank and Wesfarmers CSBP. The multi-million dollar Laiki Bank renewal will see KAZ managing its total IT environment — including facilities management of network servers, LAN and WAN service and support, disaster recovery and onsite technical support — until February 2009. CSBP, the largest manufacturer and supplier of fertilisers and industrial chemicals in WA, outsourced its IT to KAZ in 2001 and has now extended that arrangement by four years until June 2007. This deal includes service desk support, service level reporting, consulting services and disaster recovery planning.

Lowe to head up Asia-Pacific for AT&T

AT&T has rewarded its A/NZ managing director, Steve Lowe, for his efforts by making him vice-president for Asia-Pacific excluding Japan. He will relocate to regional headquarters in Hong Kong but will stay in Australia until a successor for his current role has been found. AT&T vice-president of Global Services, Justin Sims, praised Lowe for building its A/NZ business since a new business model was launched last year and predicted Lowe would show the same leadership qualities as head of the telcos fastest growing region. Lowe joined AT&T in 1999 as part of its acquisition of IBM Global Network. “After a period of consolidation, I believe the telecom industry is poised for recovery in the months ahead,” he said.
