Microsoft shifts local Services director

Microsoft Australia has announced that Kevin Ackhurst will trade in his position as director of the local Microsoft Services division to be appointed Director of Public Sector.

Ackhurst’s move comes within days of the departure of the Microsoft’s worldwide director of Microsoft services, Michael Sinneck, who resigned to pursue new opportunities.

Ackhurst said the two moves were entirely coincidental - and that the movements in Australia began taking shape several weeks ago, whereas Sinneck's announcement was sudden and for personal reasons.

Sinneck has been replaced by Microsoft CIO (Chief Information Officer) Rick Devenuti, while Microsoft Australia is currently interviewing for the position left vacant as a result of Ackhurst's move. Ackhurst said the vendor will make an announcement on his replacement in mid-December.

Ackhurst brings considerable experience to the public sector sales role from his work in the services division. Microsoft Services, in conjunction with channel partners, has implemented solutions for such Australian Government departments as the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR).
