Touted as the first entry-level scanner to hit the Australian market complete with an Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) chip, this machine comes in two models – the Perfection 1670 and Perfection 1670 Photo. The ASIC chip allows image processing to take place on the scanner itself, making it faster and freeing up the PC for other tasks once the physical scan is complete. Both models feature an Epson Scan driver with colour restoration and dust removal functionality. Bundled software includes ABBY FineFiller for character recognition, FormFiller for completing fields on scanned forms, Presto Bizcard for scanning cards directly onto a database and Presto PixExpress for scanning images directly onto personal digital assistants. The Perfection 1670 Photo also has a fully integrated Transparency Unit supporting simultaneous scanning of strip film. Both Epson Perfection 1670 models are distributed by Digiland, Tech Pacific, JTC, IT Wholesale, BMS Technology, HiTech Distribution and Compu Wholesale.
RRP: 1670 $249; 1670 Photo $299
