SYDNEY, Australia - 12 September 2003. Alphawest is pleased to announce it has been selected to develop and deploy a Business Process Management Solution (BPMS) (including workflow and integration) pilot project for Planning SA.

Planning SA is a multi–disciplinary State Government Agency responsible for guiding and administering the South Australian Planning and Development Assessment System.

Part of the Department for Transport and Urban Planning, Planning SA is the State Government’s principal adviser on land use planning, building, urban design and development strategies and policies.

Alphawest, through its partnership with HandySoft, will offer Planning SA a consultative approach to effectively integrate its existing document management system with a proven, scalable business process management solution.

“Alphawest’s expertise, and experience with successfully implementing HandySoft’s BPM solution (BizFlow) is key to the success of this project, said Linus Chow, Regional Director, HandySoft Asia-Pacific.

With a strong, established track record in South Australia, Alphawest is already providing a unique combination of skills and experience to local organisations.

Specifically, Alphawest delivers a range of strategic, business and technical consulting services that include the provision of advice and guidance, implementation and support of IT solutions encompassing information management, infrastructure solutions and business continuity.

In conjunction with Alphawest, Planning SA is currently piloting a Hummingbird Enterprise document and records management solution.

“This pilot also demonstrates how Alphawest can leverage our relationship with a broad range of technology partners, in this case Hummingbird and HandySoft, to provide the best solution to our customers,” reveals Michael dal Maso, Solutions Alliances Manager, Information and Integration Practice, Alphawest.

This pilot program will enhance Planning SA’s existing investment in document and records management technology.

Working together, Alphawest and Planning SA personnel will undertake a range of joint activities throughout the duration of the project, including managing executives and key stakeholders responsible for the ongoing improvements to Planning SA’s business effectiveness.

The project design will be undertaken in partnership with Planning SA personnel and Alphawest will be responsible for installation and training of Planning SA staff.

Planning SA’s Project Manager Greg Walker said “Alphawest has an excellent reputation in South Australia and we look forward to working with them on this exciting project.”

Whilst the pilot program will initially provide rapid out-of-the-box workflow functionality, Planning SA wishes to rapidly assess the capability of the BPMS to support more complex functions, including its ability to integrate with the existing document and records management solution to provide enhanced business value.

After assessing the pilot solution, Planning SA is expected to deploy the BPMS solution to a broader audience across Planning SA.

“Alphawest is very pleased with this result following on from a number of recent wins within our South Australian and other offices nationally,” says Mr dal Maso, Alphawest.

“This is a further example of how Alphawest can work in partnership with our clients to extend their current investment in existing technologies,” concludes Mr dal Maso.
