Synnex Australia has taken out the Seagate Distributor of the Year award for the Asia-Pacific region at a conference held in Phuket, Thailand.
It is the first time the local arm of the distributor has won the award, beating off strong competition from players in the emerging markets of India and China, according to the vendor.
But Synnex as a whole is no stranger to receiving the award. It is the third year running it has won — last time around it went to its Chinese subsidiary, Laser Computer, with the 2001 gong going to Synnex Technology International, Taiwan.
The award is bestowed on a lucky winner for performance in a range of categories including sales volumes, customer service, marketing creativity, promotional activities, increased coverage and channel growth.
“We have increased Seagate sales volume by 110 per cent and, more importantly, provided exceptional customer service to the channel,” Synnex Australia managing director, Frank Sheu, said.
The distributor’s local Seagate product manager, Caroline Tee, was singled out for individual praise, securing the Best Product Manager Award.
Tee said the Synnex Group sold more than 7 million Seagate hard drives in the last financial year.
