Intel has posted its highest quarterly revenue figures ever in the fourth quarter as it overtook the previous record it set in the third quarter of 2000.
For the period ending December 27, Intel recorded revenue of $US8.74 billion, up 22 per cent from last year’s fourth-quarter revenue of $US7.16 billion.
The company’s previous record for revenue in a quarter was $US8.73 billion, set near the end of the dotcom bubble in the third quarter of 2000.
Net income for the quarter was $US2.2 billion, up 107 per cent from last year’s fourth-quarter net income of $US1.05 billion.
For the full year, Intel posted revenue of $US30.1 billion, up 13 per cent from $US26.8 billion in 2002. Net income was $US5.6 billion, up more than 80 per cent from the previous year and exceeding expectations from analysts.
