Auckland-based contact centre specialist, Zeacom, is looking to appoint two IP telephony resellers to expand its presence in the Australian market.
Zeacom became an accredited Cisco Premier Partner at the back end of last year and conducts interoperability testing with the networking giant.
Damovo, IBM, NCR, Alphawest and Logical have all recently completed an IP telephony specialisation with Cisco and have been approached by Zeacom. NetStar is currently going through the same process and all six are being weighed up for two reseller spots in Australia.
“These people are geared up to go to market,” Zeacom’s general manager for Australia, Gordon Bare, said. “The best way forward for us is to appoint no more than two resellers and put all our resources behind them to help them succeed.”
Performance Solutions is the only current player in the Australian Cisco IP telephony channel. Zeacom's Cisco business manager, Robert Pendergrast, said it had a lot of ground to make up.
“They’ve done a great job and that has made it nice and easy in terms of reseller acceptance of the product,” he said.
But he said “support behind the product” would make Zeacom competitive.
Pendergast wanted at least one reseller signed up by the end of next month.
“IP telephony is starting to be taken up and we want to catch the wave because that is where the growth will be in our industry,” Pendergrast said.
