The sales and marketing ranks are swelling at Sophos Anti-Virus with a number of new appointments, and the establishment of a presence in Victoria.
New appointees include sales director A/NZ, David Higgins, and marketing manager A/NZ, Roshantha Pillay. Higgins joined Sophos from distributor, Tech Pacific, where he was Category Manager, Networking and Communications. Pillay was previously with Aspect Communications Australasia.
Sophos has also hired Justin Flower, formerly of ProLogic, to head up business development in Melbourne, and Mark Churchill, who will focus on OEM and ISP business.
The rash of new appointments follow Rob Forsyth’s ascension to MD last month.
He said Sophos’ aggressive growth in Australia had seen a rapid expansion of its sales and marketing staff since he joined the company in late 2001.
“When I joined we had four or five in sales and marketing. We now have in advance of 20,” Forsyth said.
Both Higgins and Pillay would work on extending Sophos’ channel relationships, he said.
Pillay’s brief includes increasing Sophos’ support for local partners.
She is currently working on a direct mail campaign for anti-virus “health checks”, and a lead generation program.
