NTT DoCoMo 3G Compact Flash

NTT DoCoMo 3G Compact Flash

When NTT DoCoMo first launched its 3G service here in Japan a couple of years ago, people complained about the large size of the terminals. The carrier, it seems, has been working on that and has just launched a 3G mobile modem in a Compact Flash form factor. The card is made by Matsushita, which you know better as Panasonic, and supports Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (W-CDMA) packet data transmission at a speed of up to 384kbps downstream and 64kbps upstream. The card only works with NTT DoCoMo’s network and Windows-based systems at present, according to the maker and costs about $US200.
