Samsung’s SyncMaster 172W 17-inch TFT-LCD offers 450cd/m² illumination with a 400:1 contrast ratio. It incorporates Samsung’s unique MagicBright feature that provides an optimum viewing environment. The 172W features a dual DVI-D interface that connects a digital signal directly to the monitor, and a dual hinge system that allows you to adjust, wall mount or fold the monitor to suit you perfectly. The 172W will support any plug and play platform, including most MS Windows and Mac environments. LG’s Flatron L1510S 15-inch TFT-LCD monitor offers high definition picture clarity with a maximum resolution of 1024 x 768. It features a wide viewing angle due to the ergonomic design, a super slim bezel and is TCO99 and Energy Star compliant, causing minimum eye strain as a result of lower emissions. It offers 250 cd/m2 illumination with a 300:1 contrast ratio. It is available now through BBF, BCN, ESPCO, Galas, Leader, Omega and Today Tech. RRP: $699.


Acer’s AL712 15-inch TFT-LCD monitor features a slim bezel design with built-in stereo speakers, 250cd/m2 illumination with 500:1 contrast ratio. It features a 20 millisecond pixel response time, 0.264mm dot pitch and an analog and DVI-D connection. RRP: $899 (inc GST).


LG’s Flatron L1710B 17-inch TFT-LCD comes with Colorific — true colour management software — as standard and has a USB port (universal serial bus) that is convenient for connecting peripherals on your desktop, especially when the tower is out of reach. DVI-I (digital input) will further enhance picture quality and a built in power brick replacing traditional cable clutter with a single power cable. It features a narrow bezel, a native resolution of 1280 x 1024 at 75Hz, a pixel pitch of 0.264 x 0.264mm and 250cd/m² luminance with a 400:1 contrast ratio. The L1710B is TCO99 and EPA Energy Star compliant. It is available now through BBF, BCN, ESPCO, Galas, Leader, Omega and Today Tech. RRP: $1050.

Impact Systems

The Polyview CMV 1515 15-inch TFT-LCD monitor from Impact Systems is designed to make a significant impact on the LCD market. It feature a 15millisecond pixel response time, 400cd/m² illumination with a contrast ratio of 500:1. Stereo speakers are mounted on the bezel, which surrounds the anti-glare screen with a wide viewing angle of 170 degrees. It offers Vesa mounting capabilities, a three-year national onsite warranty that covers the complete unit, including the backlight, and a 30-day money-back guarantee. The CMV 1515 is presently available from Digiland, HiTech Distribution, Harris Technology or Impact Systems Technology. RRP: $499.


Targeted at government and corporate sectors, Mitsubishi’s DV172 17-inch TFT-LCD offers a thin, sleek design with 1280 x 1024 pixel native resolution and 260cd/m2 illumination with 500:1 contrast ratio. It features a 16 millisecond response time and a DVI digital signal interface to eliminate picture noise associated with analogue graphics adaptors. The DV172 offers plug and play compatibility with Microsoft Windows 95, 98, 2000, ME and XP, and also supports NT and MAC. It comes with a full three-year warranty including the backlight. AOC’s LM914 19-inch TFT-LCD display features DVI-D digital input and supports multiple resolutions up to 1280x1024. The LM914 includes AOC’s On Screen Display (OSD) technology that allows users to make easy, one-touch adjustments. The display’s dimensions — 17” x 17.3” x 7.8” (wide x height x depth), allows for increased workspace, and can also be wall-mounted. The LM914 has earned EPA Energy Star rating. All AOC monitors are backed by a comprehensive three-year warranty, during which AOC will repair, replace or rebuild products at no charge. The LM914 is available now through distributors Morning Star Computers.
