Prominent HP reseller, Leading Solutions is expanding its software sales and marketing capabilities having acquired the Australian operation of Dutch ERP vendor, Scala Business Solutions.
Managing director of Leading Solutions, Frank Colli, said the acquisition of Scala Australia may be the first of several acquisitions as the Melbourne-based national reseller executed an aggressive growth strategy.
"There are other potential acquisitions in the pipeline," Colli told ARN. "We are looking for good businesses to help us grow. In this business, if you don't grow, you are going backwards."
Colli said that there was no strict definition of the type of businesses he was after. He preferred to simply say that they "have to be good businesses at the right price".
This included the potential of buying other HP resellers, resellers of alternate brands, Colli said.
"We will always have our door open," he said. "There are a couple that we are already in discussion with. If it makes business sense and the numbers make sense then, sure, we will be more than happy to talk to them about the potential for us to acquire."
"Leading Solutions is a strong, financially stable business that is always interested in looking at companies that can add value to what we are already doing."
Colli is contractually bound to not disclose the financial details of the deal but said Leading Solutions paid cash for Scala Australia. It included two businesses. In addition to the Scala operations, there is also a company called Essential Solutions that had the Australian agency for a CRM product called Ascent.
"They are complementary products," Colli said.
