Melbourne-based Cohesio Group has been acquired by logistics systems company Körber.

In a statement, Körber said it acquired a majority stake in the Australian integrator of voice-directed and autonomous mobile robotics (AMR) solutions for logistics.

As a result, Cohesio will join the Business Unit Software of Körber.

The acquisition was completed on 20 September and is expected to complement the business area’s existing voice solutions business with Körber's market-leading brand Voiteq.

"With Cohesio, we are underpinning our claim to 'market leadership through technology leadership' in the future-oriented fields of voice and robot technology," said Stephan Seifert, chairman of the Group executive board at Körber AG.

"We are also expanding our presence in the particularly fast-growing markets of the APAC region, where we are able to inspire and support our customers with the best products and solutions for the supply chain".

The Business Area Körber Logistics Systems has been tracking Cohesio Group for quite some time, it explained. Their rapid growth and prominent market position as one of the leaders in voice solutions within the APAC region fits well with the global voice strategy and growth ambitions through the Business Unit Software’s Voiteq business.

Körber Business Area Logistics Systems CEO Dirk Hejnal said Cohesio is an ideal fit for for the company and its growth ambitions.

"By adding Cohesio, we are in an even stronger position to offer customers the right supply chain technologies and service them on a global level."

Cohesio already counted on Körber as a financial partner and through the acquisition will have strong financial stability to deal with large global customers.

There are no immediate changes expected in regards to Cohesio's go to market or product strategy.
"We feel fortunate to have found a partner in Körber that can help accelerate the next stage of growth for Cohesio," Cohesio CEO Nishan Wijemanne said.

"Körber offers us an innovative culture, a broader portfolio of complementary supply chain technologies and access to customer relationships on a global scale. The Cohesio founders and the entire Cohesio team are very excited to be part of this international technology group”.
