Veeam is to phase out its “frustrating” manual consumption reports for cloud services providers (CSPs) across Australia and New Zealand through a new automation tool.
The back-up and disaster recovery vendor has tapped the distributor Rhipe to trial its new tracking platform, Pulse, in A/NZ following a pilot in the United States.
Revealed to ARN during VeeamON Forum Australia in Sydney, Pulse is integrated with Veeam’s ProPartner portal and allows CSPs to automatically report their customers’ cloud consumption and volume of customer agreements with distributors.
Ingram Micro is also trialling the platform in North America next month, and is expected to then bring over to the A/NZ market, according to James Mundle, vice president of worldwide channel programs.
Explaining the platform’s creation, Mundle said CSPs found Veeam’s existing manual cloud consumption reporting process “a huge source of dissatisfaction”.
“In the past, the CSPs would manually report their cloud consumption using Excel spreadsheets to track the business, which frankly isn’t scalable.
“It inhibits their ability to drive scale in the business because they need to have visibility on the consumption used on a monthly basis. They need to report back [to Veeam] and if they have to do it in a manual way, you can’t drive scale and instead you drive a tremendous source of frustration.”
In addition, CSPs can also use Pulse to manage their Veeam licenses, which will help Veeam track partners’ monthly recurring revenue, consumption and “service them better”.
“Partners need to have the best experience working with you to drive the scale and predictability you need,” Mundle added. “We need to make sure we’re easy to do business with and to automate it to drive the scale we need.”
