Datto Asia Pacific has doubled down on its recruitment of managed service providers (MSPs) as part of a major regional investment.
The back-up and disaster recovery vendor revealed it signed up more than 745 new MSPs in 2018, now counting more than 1,200 collectively Australia and New Zealand alone.
Datto has also seen its headcount grow to more than 60 staff across APAC in the years since it first launched a base in Australia in 2015.
Datto regional director James Bergl said the company was continuing to significantly invest in the business and its channel partners and was in the midst of hiring more support staff.
“We’re bringing technical support in-country and technical management as well,” he said. “We recognise that Australian partners want local support and to speak to people who can get things sorted. It’s part of the investment that we’ve made to help service some of the new partners that we’ve brought on board.”
“It’s a vibrant market,” he added. “Our investment is having a knock-on effect on MSPs in how they deliver their services to their customers.”
Datto recently recognised a number of its leading A/NZ partners during its DattoCon event held in San Diego.
There were 133 A/NZ MSPs in attendance, with Powernet accepting Datto Hall of Fame, while Evologic was recognised as APAC Partner of the Year.
Breakout Partner of the Year went HD IT while Commuserv took out the Largest Datto Fleet recognition.
Syntech IT was handed Innovator of the Year; Calvert Technologies took Community Partner of the Year and Pioneer of the Year went to Net Intellect.
New Zealand’s Ohnyx IT Solutions was crowned Fastest Growing Partner of the Year.
During the event, the vendor unravelled more than 20 new product offerings spanning business continuity, disaster recovery, management and networking such as Datto SaaS protection for O365; E310 Series Switches and Cloud Continuity for PC.
Datto recently launched a new program to provide support and resources for vendors who want to integrate their solutions with them. The developer program is set to benefit more than 14,000 MSPs globally.
Globally, the company recently hired Sanjay Singh as its new chief sales officer and Chris McCloskey as its new customer experience officer.
"Reducing overhead is critical for MSPs, so integrations can help partners conduct their business and complete workflows more efficiently," Datto chief product officer Emily Glass said at the time of the launch. "The fewer portals partners need to open to manage their business, the better."
