Telecommunications provider ZipTel has revealed a software development collaboration deal with Perth-based Lateral.
ZipTel, which listed on the Australian Securities Exchange on 2004, provides international roaming and calling solutions to consumers using its own technology.
In February, the company stated it continued to review opportunities in the technology sector to complement its IP and software development offering.
Together with software developer Lateral, ZipTel will work on new solutions for third parties. The company currently counts on two main product: ZipT, a mobile-based VoIP communication application that allows consumers to SMS and make international calls from their mobile and AussieSim, a prepaid travel sim card into the overseas travel market assisting Australian travelers.
The partnership will see both companies leverage their capabilities and contacts to generate new business and new engagements, which is in turn expected to drive profitability and benefit both.
Although the financial impact of the collaboration agreement is not determinable, the companies stated that a split of revenue between the companies will be agreed per engagement, based on the source of the engagement and the development resources used.
