WatchGuard Technologies has added inTechnology Distribution as its first Wi-Fi focused distributor in the Australian market.

The agreement supports WatchGuard’s strategy to boost the adoption of its secure suite of Wi-Fi products, used by organisations to build wireless environments.

inTechnology CEO Mark Winter said WatchGuard’s Wi-Fi portfolio fits in with its focus on that area of the market, and will provide its partners with access to the latest 802.11ac Wave 2 access point.

“We are very excited to be working with a Wi-Fi vendor that is focused on and puts an emphasis on the security of their client's network,” Winter said.

Other distributors of the WatchGuard portfolio include Exclusive Networks, Bluechip InfoTech and Leader Computers.

InTechnology Distribution will now work with WatchGuard to recruit Wi-Fi specialist partners, exercising WatchGuard’s compatibility with other solutions.

“Their skills, experience and market knowledge will assist to recruit more Wi-Fi specialist partners that have long wanted to add a secure Wi-Fi offering to their portfolio. Indeed, their existing partner base is a perfect fit in terms of its industry reach and sheer potential to add secure Wi-Fi,” WatchGuard Technologies regional director Mark Sinclair said.

The Wi-Fi and security vendor will support inTechnology with sales training, certification programs and marketing resources as well as access to the WatchGuard Learning Center. In tandem, InTechnology will support its resellers with marketing, lead generation and a self-service portal.

In May, WatchGuard scrapped the need for partners to pass three exams in order to join its global partner program.

The WatchGuardOne program previously required partners to pass exams in three “competency” areas: network security, secure Wi-Fi and multi-factor authentication (MFA).

However, in order to minimise the barrier to entry, future partners can now achieve a single specialisation in one of the areas and gain full WatchGuardOne status.

The revamped specialisations, which will roll out in Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ), will include sales and technical training.
