Alcatel, its distributor IPL and reseller, Fortel Communications, joined forces earlier this month to deliver converged communications facilities to the latest Ronald McDonald House.
Alcatel donated its OmniPCX Office communications exchange system to the charity's new premises in Townsville, Queensland. Both IPL and Fortel were on the scene to implement the equipment.
Alcatel general manager, enterprise solutions for Australasia, Rob Carnell, said communication was critical for Ronald McDonald House where families might be separated for extended periods.
IPL Group managing director, Stead Denton, said it was happy to help enrich the lives of others.
"Fortunately for us we operate in the technology area which allows us to help people from time to time," he said.
The House features 12 rooms, a communal kitchen and general living area and will provide accommodation for neo-natal babies and their families from the North Queensland region.
