Web-based IT retailer, TechBuy, won the Australia Post Small Business Award for Business Growth and Management. The award was presented at a gala event in Sydney earlier this month.
The company was chosen from a field of 400 small businesses across a range of sectors and geographical locations of New South Wales.
TechBuy operations manager, Colin Mead, said the award gave the company a huge boost.
"It is like the award has reinvigorated the whole company," Mead said. "We are being recognised for being a successful Internet-based business, and it's just lovely to get that recognition."
TechBuy also picked up a marketing and promotions package valued at $9000 as well as $5000 in cash.
Still elated by the win, Mead said the award process was beneficial to the company's operations because it gave it an opportunity to network with companies at similar stages of development.
"There are so many small businesses out there just working hard on reinventing the wheel that they don't get a chance to get out there and talk to others who are doing more or less the same thing," Mead said. "It was just a great event to be involved with at every stage."
Australia Post communications manager, Peter Donadel, said the competition was designed to provide recognition of the economic contribution of Australia's small businesses.
An overall award was won by a Veterinary Health and Research company. The Australia Post small business awards consist of eight categories.
